We know that managing thousands of road signs is not an easy task. On an annual basis, municipalities should ensure that road signs are in the correct location, are in good condition and meet minimum retroreflectivity levels. Furthermore, having to replace deficient signage can be costly and time consuming and can leave municipalities open to liability if signs are not replaced in a timely manner.

Because of this, municipalities are choosing to contract out the management of their road signage.

More and More Municipalities Are Contracting
The Complete Management of Their Road Signage

We take sign management seriously and are the experts in the province.  Our sign management service allows municipalities to contract the complete management of their road signage. We use the latest tools, software, data and techniques to create and maintain a sign management program that includes the ongoing inventorying, inspection and maintenance of signage (including retroreflectivity). This ensures that there is an adequate plan to renew signs on an as-needed basis, leading to significant savings realized annually.

The Benefits

Regulatory Compliance

Worry Free

Increased Road Safety

Have confidence that your signage is compliant with minimum maintenance standards and other regulatory requirements.

GIS Database & Statistics

We provide municipalities with a robust geo-database of their signage in any format, so that they can see exactly where their signs are on a map and what condition they are in.

We also provide substantial statistical analysis of your municipality's signage inventory.

Know with certainty that your signage is in good condition contributing to road user safety - both during the day and at night.

Just-In-Time Replacement

We ensure that signage is replaced, just-in-time. By maximizing the replacement life cycle of signage, we make sure that your signage is only replaced when it is no longer effective for its purpose.

Economies of scale allow us to negotiate the price of signs from local vendors at a preferred rate and ensure signs are made to specifications that will maximize their useful life.

Your municipality won't ever have to worry about inspecting, maintaining & replacing signage. Use your limited resources for other important work.

Reduce Liability

Municipalities are assured that they have an effective sign management system in place. This includes having well-documented and easily accessible records of inspections that demonstrate regulatory compliance.

This effectively mitigates the risk of injury, litigation and other potential liability due to deficient signage in your municipality.

Our Process

Inventory & Inspect

We create a detailed geo-referenced inventory of a municipality's signage. This process includes the recording of several various attributes of the sign and attaching a weather-proof adhesive barcode.

We then inspect the condition of each sign and its support and measure the sign's retroreflectivity in accordance with ASTM test methods using a RoadVista 922 handheld retroreflectometer.

Maintain & Replace

After our initial inspection, signs and supports that require maintenance are repaired. Signs that are found to be in poor condition or do not meet minimum retroreflectivity requirements are replaced as soon a practicable. Signs that pose an immediate risk to road user safety being prioritized for replacement in accordance with minimum maintenance standards.

Analyze & Report

After our inspections are complete, we provide the municipality with a detailed report and geo-referenced electronic database of a municipality's signage.

The ability to forecast the projected lifespan of the municipality's signage allows the municipality to more accurately project sign management budgets for future years.
